week 2

Thoughts on week 2 webskills learning experience

Week 2 in web skills learning has been very fruitful for me .Actually, I have learnt a lot on web searching and ABCD Model for Behavioral Objectives.

To begin with, web searching is of paramount importance for teachers to design their lessons. The huge number of search engines is a double –edged weapon .Despite making the teacher’s task easier to find information and resources on the topic he or she wishes to tackle, I found it hard to select what I need due to the load of information.
I have also learned that web searching does not mean Google! I have actually discovered other search engines such as Bing and Ask thanks to the task assigned during week 2.
Secondly, week 2 has been beneficial in my teaching skills. The ABCD Model for Behavioral Objectives has enabled to have a clear objective and to be selective especially in the choice of verbs. I discovered some new strategies on how to set objectives .This is not as easy as I thought before!
Finally, the class atmosphere is very friendly .Comments from classmates and their feedback helped me a lot inspire new teaching ideas.
I would like to thank all of you .Week 2 has been great! What about you?
PS: I have found a handy video on YouTube on The ABCD Model for Behavioral Objectives. I liked it so much; that’s why I would like to share it on my blog. Enjoy!

  3. Hello Makram. I have also gotten more confused about writing Behaviourial learning objectives because of the amount of information, as B objectives may be written from the level of single task or activity to more global ones, long-term semester BO. Very well mentioned about the all-important action verbs. Graphical presentation of information through diagrams in the short vid, proves the necessity of digital literacy and ability to search for the appropriate materials, from the appropriate source. Is that YouTube, by the way, the duration 4.31 is also OK. Thank you. Regards. Galina Petrea.

  4. Hi Makram,
I agree with you that the tremendous amount of information on the net is a mixed blessing.
I don’t mind having spent a lot of time on exploring different search engines but I do not think I will use many of them on a daily basis. I have become acquainted with some really useful ones and added them to my bookmarks but Google will remain my default one.
I share your opinion about the importance of setting objectives. Thanks for the video.

  6. Hi Makram,

I'd like to chime in with my thanks for the learning objectives video. It's a wonderful resource. Also, I agree with you that search engines and the sheer amount of information available on the internet can be a double-edged weapon. I think that's why tools like Delicious are so useful--they can help us cut a path through the forest and prevent us from being overwhelmed.

    Best,
    Russell
